Lake Forest may set up a Community Foundation

The Lake Forest City Council this evening may give staff direction to establish a community foundation.

Mayor Jim Gardner says one was set up years ago, but previous City Councils didn’t activate it. He believes one could be set up now with the current City Council.

He says the Lake Forest Community Foundation would exist to help non-profit organizations establish themselves. It would operate much like a Chamber of Commerce for non-profits instead of for businesses.

Gardner says many cities have similar foundations.

Tonight’s Council meeting begins at 6:30.
