San Juan Capistrano’s trolley system founder leaves office

The San Juan Capistrano City Council tonight will swear into office Troy Bourne, Derek Reeve and John Taylor.

Outgoing Councilmember Kerry Ferguson leaves the Council after serving the city for four years. She says one of her greatest achievements is insisting the city get a trolley system to alleviate traffic and parking problems in the summer. And that occurred even though many people had their doubts about the program.

She says it’s very successful. People can use it to link up to the trolley system in Laguna Beach.

She points out, the city started with one trolley and now it has two trolleys that operate for 13 weeks in the summer with the financial help of an Orange County Transportation Authority grant.

Tonight’s City Council meeting begins at five.
