Laguna Woods Highlights
The Laguna Woods City Council this afternoon will reorganize, picking a new Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem.
Outgoing Mayor Carol Moore says the city had many accomplishments this year including the establishment of a non-profit organization to help raise funds to expand the library. She says Orange County covers the costs of the books and staff for the library. The city must provide space, which it does in city hall but it’s too small. The options include making adjustments within city hall to provide more space, such as adding on to the building or leasing another site for the library.
Moore says construction has resumed on the dog park, which was moved a little bit from its former location on Ridge Route. Completion is expected in the spring.
She says additionally, the city is doing well economically, now that more sales taxes will roll in thanks to the upgrade of the Willow Creek Shopping Center which previously had many vacancies.
Today’s City Council meeting begins at two in the afternoon.
