Closures on Pacific Coast Highway for fire-related repairs

Motorists should expect delays as crews begin to stabilize hillsides and repair infrastructure damaged by a wildfire along a 20-mile stretch of Pacific Coast Highway in the Malibu area.

Caltrans says the work starting today will prompt daily closures of segments of the scenic highway northwest of Los Angeles every day this week from 8:30 in the morning to 3:30 in the afternoon.

Projects include guardrail replacement, clearing of drainage lines, removal of burned debris and restoration of damaged signs. Crews will also place of netting along charred slopes and install of silt fences at the bottom of burned hillsides.

Last month's Woolsey fire destroyed 15-hundred structures in Los Angeles and Ventura counties and left three people dead.
