World AIDS Day-Dec. 1

World AIDS Day will be observed Sunday, Dec. 1st.

Radiant Health Services Executive Director Phil Yaeger says on that day many in the community will unite in the fight against HIV/AIDS, to show support for those who have been diagnosed and to remember those who have been lost to the disease.

He says HIV/AIDS is no longer a death sentence because of what he calls “incredible” treatments which can extend the lives of individuals to near normal life expectancy.

He says the important thing is to get tested and start immediate treatment if diagnosed HIV positive.

Yaeger says testing for HIV/AIDS is a finger prick, with one drop of blood and results could be available within 20 minutes.

He says on Sunday, there will be memorials and candlelight vigils to observe World AIDS Day.
