Study on facial recognition released

A study by a U.S. agency finds that facial recognition technology may not work as effectively for everyone. The study — by The National Institute of Standards and Technology — finds the technology tends to perform unevenly based on a person's race, age or gender. Such software is increasingly being used by law enforcement at airports — as well as in many businesses. Critics have complained that their spotty performance can cause problems — and want to see more kinks worked out before it is more widely used than it already is.
