California recovers $23M from auto parts makers' bid rigging
California's attorney general says the state has recovered more than $23 million from dozens of automobile parts manufacturers for illegal bid rigging that inflated consumer costs. Attorney General Xavier Becerra says the largest such settlement, for more than $4 million, was reached this week. The money goes to recover higher prices paid by California state agencies. But the parts makers also face class-action lawsuits on behalf of automobile buyers. Becerra says auto buyers could each be eligible for $100 or more in restitution from those private class-action lawsuits, but must apply by year's end.
