Flesh-eating bacteria linked to heroin kills 7 in California

Authorities say a flesh-eating bacteria linked to the use of black tar heroin has killed at least seven people in San Diego County. Health officials say nine people who injected heroin in the past two months were hospitalized with a soft-tissue infection that destroys muscle. The nine patients ranged from 19 to 57. Five men and two women have died. Investigators are trying to determine the source of the heroin.
