California Highway Patrol

When you’re driving on a California freeway and notice drivers are following the speed limit, it could be due to a California Highway Patrol officer driving nearby.

CHP information officer out of the San Juan Capistrano area Rafael Reynoso says officers are trying to keep everyone safe. And that means looking for drivers who may be weaving in and out of lanes. He says when that happens, officers will assume the driver may be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

He says officers will also be checking to see if drivers are illegally holding cell phones. He points out, electronic mobile devices may be used as long as they are mounted in the vehicle.

Reynoso is the guest on our public affairs show “Collage” which airs this evening at seven. “Collage” may also be heard anytime on-line on www.Jazz885.org
