Laguna Woods will see presentation on I-5/El Toro Interchange Project
The Laguna Woods City Council this afternoon will see a presentation proposed options for improving the El Toro Road interchange at the I-5 freeway.
Mayor Cynthia Conners says one option would take a section of the Laguna Hills mall for new on and off ramps.
She says the city is concerned about the flyover option, which has a big ascending ramp southbound on I-5 by Avenida De La Carlota and St. George’s Episcopal Church. The concern is for continuous construction for two years and with the elevated traffic, the ongoing noise.
Conners says the council may take a position on an option and express comments to the California Department of Transportation and the Orange County Transportation Authority.
Today’s Laguna Woods City Council meeting begins at two in the afternoon.
Conners says tomorrow in Lake Forest, the Orange County Transportation Authority and Caltrans will hold an open house to get public input on the proposed alternatives. The open house will occur at the Lake Forest Holiday Inn between 4:30 in the afternoon and seven in the evening.
