Arrest made in Newport Beach double killing

A man has been arrested in the weekend killing of two people at a Newport Beach condominium.

Police arrested 44-year-old Jamon Buggs on suspicion of murder. He's being held on $1 million bail.

Investigators believe the Huntington Beach man shot 48-year-old Wendi Miller from Costa Mesa and 38-year-old Darren Partch. They were found dead Sunday in Partch's condominium.

Acquaintances say Miller, who lived nearby, had given Partch a ride home.

Buggs was already in custody. Police in neighboring Irvine arrested him Monday in connection with a series of attempted weekend home burglaries, including one where a gun was fired.

Miller, a mother of two, ran a nonprofit advocacy group called Wings for Justice to help children in the family court system.
