Sex suit filed against ex-California Democratic Party chair

A new lawsuit alleges that the former chairman of the California Democratic Party sexually assaulted two ex-staffers.

The Los Angeles Times reports the suit alleges Eric Bauman groped and harassed former communications director John Vigna and a party activist, Spencer Dayton. The suit also alleges that Bauman discriminated against former party operations director Tina McKinnor because she’s black.

The suit, which names Bauman and the state party, was filed in Sacramento. It's the third filed since January alleging misconduct by Bauman, who resigned in November after allegations of excessive drinking and sex harassment.

Bauman's attorney, Neal Zaslavsky, declined comment, saying he and his client hadn’t seen the lawsuit.

Acting chair of the state party Alexandra Rooker told the Times that the party wouldn't comment.
