Irvine City Council appoints new member
The Irvine City Council has appointed a new member to fill the vacancy that was created when former Council member Christina Shea succeeded to the Office of Mayor.
Senior Media Services Coordinator Melissa Haley says the Council had interviewed 12 candidates from which Irvine Planning Commission Vice Chair Mike Carroll was selected.
She says Shea told the Council she is pleased to welcome Carroll to the Council. “He brings a wealth of community and professional experience, making him uniquely qualified to serve as a Councilmember. He is a champion for our wonderful community and I look forward to working with him.”
Haley says Carroll had served on the City’s Community Services Commission between 2012 and 2016.
He was sworn into office Tuesday night.
