Ladera Ranch will work on improving traffic safety
The Ladera Ranch Civic Council had discussed options to improve traffic safety in response to the death of an eight year old boy who was struck and killed while riding his bicycle. The accident remains under investigation.
Council Chair Stephanie Ramsey says the Council is working with the California Highway Patrol, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and the four schools in Ladera Ranch to put on bicycle and pedestrian safety programs.
She says residents in one sub-division have already put on a successful safety program, that they created themselves involving all the drivers and the kids. The kids were educated on how to cross the street. The drivers had signed a contract agreeing that safety in Ladera Ranch is their responsibility.
Ramsey says also, the Council will ask Orange County Supervisors to have some streets surveyed to re-evaluate speed limits and to put up more safety signs.
