Laguna Niguel may approve solid waste rate increase
The Laguna Niguel City Council will consider approving a new solid waste rate increase of $2.45 for residents for the collection of new organic waste.
Interim City Manager Bob Hall says CR& R is the city’s waste hauler and the fee will go toward the cost of recycling the organic waste, which consists of food and table scraps.
He says under state law, all cities will have to separate their organic waste from regular trash.
In Laguna Niguel, the table scraps will need to go in the green waste bin that holds yard trimmings.
Hall says the required separation of organic waste will begin on July 1.
Tonight’s City Council meeting begins at seven.
