Extensive search for missing camper in California mountains

An extensive air-ground search is continuing for a 60-year-old Huntington Beach woman reported missing from a remote campground in California's White Mountains.

Inyo County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Carma Roper says Sheryl Powell was reported missing Friday by her husband. He says after they selected a site in the Grandview Campground she took their dog for a walk while he repositioned their Jeep.

The husband said that he then couldn’t find his wife or the dog and searched for almost an hour before alerting law enforcement via a satellite device.

Roper says investigators have determined the husband isn’t connected to his wife's disappearance.
