Musick Jail closure begins tomorrow
Orange County Sheriff-Coroner Don Barnes says the James Musick Facility in Irvine will close temporarily tomorrow.
All inmates housed at the jail have been transferred to the three other Orange County jail facilities. During the closure, a limited number of staff will remain onsite for facility security and minimal operational needs such as laundry services for the jail system.
Musick is expected to be reopened in the fall of 2022, when the construction of two new state-funded housing facilities are completed. The 512 bed and 384 bed facilities are specifically designed to meet the growing needs of today’s inmate population.
