Man charged with murder in 2016 death of toddler

Authorities in Massachusetts have charged a California man with murder in the death in 2016 of a 2-year-old boy.

A spokeswoman for Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz said in an emailed statement that 24-year-old Timy Jo Griffin from Long Beach is scheduled to be arraigned today.

He's charged in connection with the December 2016 death of Nazeir Phillips. The toddler was found unresponsive at a Brockton home and died of his injuries three days later. The nature of those injuries wasn’t disclosed.

Griffin was indicted last month and has waived rendition.

Prosecutors didn’t say how Griffin and the toddler were connected.
