San Juan Capistrano approves Verdugo Street Project

In San Juan Capistrano, the street in front of the train station, Verdugo Street, will be beautified.

San Juan Capistrano City Councilman John Taylor says the Council has approved the renovation project. The plans include the widening of the sidewalks and install landscaping, brick pavers for a more pedestrian friendly gateway to the downtown area.

He says the Rotary Club of San Juan Capistrano will donate a 16 foot four-faced clock for the plaza area of the project.

Taylor says construction will begin in the fall with completion expected in the spring of next year.

He says in other business, the Council approved The Groves affordable senior rental housing project that will be constructed at the northwest corner of Camino Capistrano and Junipero Serra Road. There will be 75 units, ten of which will be supportive housing for homeless people.

Construction will also begin in the fall, with completion expected by the end of next year.
