Laguna Hills may hire consultant for homelessness & improve holiday decorations

The Laguna Hills City Council tonight may approve hiring Mercy House Living Centers to provide homeless outreach services within the city.

Mayor Pro-Tem Janine Heft says according the recent Point-in-Time survey count of the homeless in the city, under ten homeless individuals were counted.

She says the consultant on a part-time basis would monitor and assess the homeless in the city and strive to improve their lives.

In other business, Heft says after hearing residents complain last year, of the city having lackluster decorations for the holidays, she was able to get the Council to agree to increase the budget for the decorations from $50,000 to $100,000.

She says tonight there will be a power point presentation with renderings on the decoration plan.

She believes the decorations will light up the city and bring in a lot of holiday spirit and give residents a good feeling about living in Laguna Hills.

Tonight’s City Council meeting begins at seven.
