Laguna Hills will hire homelessness consultant

The Laguna Hills City Council has agreed to hire Mercy House Living Centers to provide homeless outreach services on a part-time basis.

Mayor Pro-Tem Janine Heft says the person representing the organization will talk with the homeless to determine their needs and work with them in order to help them.

Heft says the latest Point-in-Time survey count of the homeless in the city had determined there are about 14 homeless individuals in the city.
