Lake Forest may commit millions for affordable housing

The Lake Forest City Council tonight may approve a funding commitment of nearly four million dollars to a developer who will build affordable housing units.

City Sr. Communications Marketing Analyst Jonathan Volzke says National Community Renaissance wants to purchase property on El Toro and Raymond Way to build up to 80 affordable housing units.

Volzke says the proposed project would have one, two and three bedroom apartments available only to residents earning a median income set by Orange County between 30 percent to a maximum 60 percent.

Tonight’s City Council meeting begins at 6:30.
