Jessie Rees Foundation: Encouraging Kids Fighting Cancer
The Jessie Rees Foundation: Encouraging Kids Fighting Cancer organization was created after the 2012 death of 12-year-old Jessie Rees. She had fought two brain tumors for ten months and two days. During her courageous fight, she focused on helping other kids fighting cancer who couldn’t leave the hospital. The desire led to the creation of JoyJars and the Never Ever Give Up message “NEGU.”
Foundation Community Engagement Manager Grant Frum says 50,000 JoyJars are sent out to children each year in over 250 Children’s Hospitals all over the U.S and a select few in Canada.
Frum says the JoyJars are filled to the brim with toys and items to keep children busy.
He’s the guest on our public affairs show “Collage” which airs this evening at seven. “Collage” may also be heard anytime online on www.jazz885.org
