Laguna Beach to purchase library property from Orange County

The Laguna Beach City Council has agreed to purchase the property which has the Laguna Beach branch of the Orange County Library from the owner Orange County.

Mayor Pro Tem Steve Dicterow says a deal that was initiated 50 years ago with Orange County provided Laguna Beach with the option to purchase the property at the end of 50 years.

He says the Council had determined the property is too important for it to be entrusted into the hands of anybody, but Laguna Beach.

He says the city will send a letter to Orange County indicating its option to purchase the property and then the process will begin to eventually have control over the site.

It’s located at the corner of Laguna Avenue and Glenneyre.
