South County residents share their views on coronavirus

Disneyland and California Adventure will close starting tomorrow morning because of concerns about coronavirus. Disney says there’ve been no reported cases of the virus at the Disneyland Resort. The parks will stay closed through the end of this month. This comes as professional sports leagues postpone their seasons and local colleges and universities move from in-person to online courses as a preventative measure. The overall feel of South County residents seems to be cautious.

"Well I have my own concerns of course, because it is very contagious, but overall I feel that as long as I continue to wash my hands, use hand sanitizer and stay cleanly and you know keep my distance from people, I will be okay," says South County resident Timothy Santos.

Devin Lynn just returned from a trip to Nicaragua, he says there was no panic during his trip and he is not worried now that he’s back in the U.S. “I think people think the Coronavirus is a lot worse than what it is… Over sixteen thousand people die from a flu. How many people have died in the United States from this Coranavirus?”

Zoee Beaver is a children’s behavioral therapist who has been taking precautions for the coronavirus.. “After starting this job I’ve definitely just been like washing my hands more and being a little bit better about keeping myself clean and I’ve had a lot of parents talking about it, too. So we’ve definitely taken precautions with our kids, washing their hands more and just being more aware of like what they’re touching.”

That last speaker was a children’s behavioral therapist, who says she’s mostly concerned about the kids she works with.
