This is Heather Wieshlow with your Orange County local entertainment wrap-up, for the week of October 7th to October 13th. Fall is here in Southern California, and there are many fun activities for the whole family.

Here at Saddleback College, we have two great musical events at the McKinney Theatre. The first is on Friday, October 11, at 7:30pm. Saddleback Big Band will be performing in the wild diversity style of large ensemble jazz from the swing era, to freshly inked charts and world premieres.

The second event is on Sunday, October 13, at 2:30pm with Guest Artist Kevin Ayesh Piano Recital. Doctor Kevin Ayesh is renowned throughout the United States as a performer, and  has been a finalist in several national and international piano competitions. He won Second Prize at the Wideman International Piano Competition, and both Third Prize and Composer's Prize at the New Orleans International Piano Competition.

Get in the Halloween spirit on Friday Oct 11, with Orange County's most elaborate Halloween yard display. BOOT HILL rises from the fog for its 20th year, to haunt Irvine. The spirits from the Old West town of Bridgewood will materialize for nine haunting nights, transforming the residence into the old church and cemetery that once occupied this hallowed ground. Come if you dare... but beware.

On Saturday October 12, the 49th Annual Silverado Country Fair and Folk Festival will be held in the beautiful Silverado Canyon. This family event explores the wonders of the area’s Old West rustic culture.  See the famous “Unparade”, Western horseback riders, and enjoy gun ‘slingin’ fun. There will be representatives from the Acjachemen tribe, dancers and classic cars. Listen to live Country, Western, Bluegrass, Folk & Blues bands. Plus, enjoy handmade arts and crafts, activities for the kids, tasty food and much more.

Fountain Valley’s, Fire Department will be hosting an Open House on Saturday October 12. This is your chance to tour a fire station, and see fire trucks, and an ambulance up close. Learn about fire safety, how to use a fire extinguisher and participate in a “Hands on CPR” demonstration.

The Irvine Global Village Festival is celebrating 18 years of community fun, at their two-day event at the Great Park on Saturday October 12 and Sunday October 13. Attendees of all ages will enjoy local and global cuisine, an artisan's marketplace, music, art, and exhibits and fun activities for the whole family.

The Heritage Festival in Placentia will be held on October 12th, from 10am-4pm and includes a business expo, parade and car show. There will also be live music, crafts, great food and more.

On October 13, the Surf City Arts Fest combines Family Arts Day and Art in the Park to create one of the town’s greatest art events.  Enjoy galleries, studios, and share in a day of exploration and art making. Professional artists will be leading over 10 unique, hands-on art projects and  75 artist booths will sharing their wares at the fine arts and crafts fair.  Be entertained by the sounds of live music and food and beverage vendors will enhance this creative art experience.
