This is Heather Wieshlow, with your Orange County local entertainment wrap-up, for the week of November 12th thru November 18th. This week we have some eclectic and interesting things to do around the area, that as always, are inexpensive and fun to do.
On Tuesday November the 12th, there will be a Veterans Day Ceremony and Parade through Fullerton’s historic downtown area, beginning at 10:30 a.m. A ceremony will follow at 11 a.m. and includes the placement of wreaths, patriotic solos, a gun salute by the Fullerton Police Department and the playing of “Taps”. All veterans are welcome to join in the parade.

Also, on Tuesday, is Laguna Beach’s monthly Full Moon Drum Circle at the Aliso Creek County Beach. This informal organic monthly gathering meets from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. They encourage musicians, dancers, singers to come together and harmonize under the light of the full moon, against the backdrop of the oceans’ waves.

On Friday November 15th, the Open Market OC presents a special evening featuring over 40 fine artists, sculptors, and creators from 6:00-9:00pm at the Laguna Hills Mall. Browse the fine arts galleries, meet the artists, and shop the entire marketplace with over 200 unique vendors. Refreshments and snacks will be served.

The Newport Beach Public Library invites the community to enhance their technological literacy at Digital Saturday. On Saturday, November 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Central Library, in Newport Beach. The event showcases the library’s digital resources, including eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, and online databases, as well as explore the Media Lab, Sound Lab and Tech Toys available for loan.

Also, on Saturday, learn all about Foraging Southern California at a seminar at 10:00am at the OHG Education Farm in Orange. Guest speaker professor Doug Kent will cover how to forage safely, techniques used to protect ecological health; and the most commonly found edible greens, fruits, flowers, seeds, roots and sources of protein.

On Saturday November 16 or Sunday November 17, challenge yourself at the 5K Terrain Race located in the Oak Canyon Park, in Silverado. Voted best obstacle race in 2019. Get ready to conquer over 15 obstacles by sloshing through the mud, scaling walls, and trying your hand at ropes and monkey bars.
The Speech and Debate showcase will be held on Monday, November 18th at 5 pm, in the McKinney Theatre, at Saddleback College. Students from the award-winning Speech and Debate team will extemporize, contemporize, and hypothesize as well as verbalize the topics and issues of today.

This is a unique opportunity allows people from Orange County to share their stories and have them preserved for posterity at the American Folklife Center of the Library of Congress.
