On Wednesday, November 6, at 5:30pm, Soka University will host the Global Impact of the Opioid Epidemic, with author Ben Westhoff. He is an international award-winning investigative journalist and wrote the book, Fentanyl, Inc., How Rogue Chemists Are Creating the Deadliest Wave of the Opioid Epidemic.

Get in the holiday spirit with the traditional Sugar Plum Arts and Crafts Festival. Thursday and Friday, Nov. 7-8, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 9, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the OC Fair & Event Center, in Costa Mesa. Visit over 150 local artists, featuring holiday, home and garden decorations and handmade jewelry and accessories. Plus, there will be tasty foods like dips, candy, cookies, breads, jams and tamales; and more.

Also, at the OC and Fair Center, learn the best time to prune stone fruit, citrus and avocado trees in Southern California. Pruning Fruit Trees-The Basics will be held on Saturday November 9th, from 10 a.m.-noon. A local gardening expert and Orange County Master Gardener will cover the basics of pruning and why the pruning season here is different than the rest of the country.

Dementia and Alzheimer’s can take a devasting toll on individuals and families. Take strides in the fight against Alzheimer's, by joining Walk4ALZ & Run4ALZ Orange County! Saturday Nov 9th, from 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM, at the Angel Stadium in Anaheim. Proceeds benefit Alzheimer's Orange County and funds services and programs for local families and supports research.

Celebrate A Day of Kindness 2019:, Human Connections and Music, at the beach Saturday, November 9, from 10 AM – 5:30 PM., in collaboration with the City of Laguna Beach. Get to know new friends through eye contact, talking and meditation. Visit the Pay it Forward" Kindness Wall!!  Enjoy free hugs, dancing, uplifting music and speakers. At sunset there will be a Kindness Meditation and vigil for children who have died by suicide, due to bullying.

The 2019 Orange Field of Valor kicks off a week of tributes to our local veterans, Saturday, November 9th through Saturday, November 16th at Handy Park, in Orange. The Orange Field of Valor is a patriotic tribute honoring all veterans and active duty military personnel for their dedication and service to our nation.  1,776 flags will be proudly displayed, each dedicated in honor of a friend or family member.

Creatives will enjoy an afternoon of live music and FREE arts activities at Rock, Paper, Scissors!, Saturday November 9th, from 1:00-4:00pm at the Argyros Plaza, in Costa Mesa. Meet local artists and create a mixed media zine customized with your own Polaroid photo. There will be a hands-on screen printing demos, plus, learn to make your own pins with their special button-making machine!

On Sunday November 10, enjoy a wonderful evening of singing and walking with lanterns at St. Martin Lantern Parade, at Old World German Village, in Huntington Beach. This tradition has been passed through the generations and raises money for the German school.
