Laguna Beach: Historic Registry

The Laguna Beach City Council has agreed to ask staff to draw up an ordinance that provides guidance to those interested in listing their homes on the historic registry.

Councilmember Steve Dicterow says being listed means homeowners have severe restrictions on what they can do with their properties while at the same time, they may get benefits as well.

He says under the new ordinance, being listed on the registry will only be voluntary in nature.

Dicterow says the city has a task force that was appointed months ago that will advise the council on how to create incentives so homeowners will want to put their homes on the registry if they qualify.
