Mission Viejo’s 2019 Mayor sets goals

Mission Viejo’s Mayor for 2019 will be Greg Raths and the Mayor Pro Tem Brian Goodell.

Raths says when he’s Mayor next year, he’d like to accomplish several goals.

The top goal is keeping the city safe and reduce crime. Another is making sure students are educated properly and safely.

He says currently, there are officers at each high school and at other schools in the city. He would like the officers when they’re done patrolling to do their paperwork at the front office of a school instead of at Police Services, to give more of a police presence at schools. He believes that could help prevent the tragedies that have occurred across the country.

Raths would also like to make sure the city keeps a balanced budget and if there is a surplus put it into reserves. He says so far, Mission Viejo has 27 million dollars in reserves which is 47 percent of its budget.

And he will remain a strong advocate for businesses large and small in the city to insure they’ll thrive.
