San Clemente’s trolley system will expand

The San Clemente City Council has accepted an Orange County Transportation Authority grant to provide more free trolleys during the summer to enable visitors to move via trolley from San Clemente to Laguna Beach.

Mayor Steve Swarz says San Clemente already meets OCTA’s requirement of having trolleys stop every 15 minutes within the city, but it needed more funding to enable trolleys to move northward to connect to San Juan Capistrano.

He says the additional trolleys will enable OCTA to complete its trolley system in South Orange County.

Swarz says the trolley system is a win-win for the cities because it alleviates parking and traffic problems in the summer.
