San Juan Capistrano may approve Verdugo Street Beautification Project

The San Juan Capistrano City Council tonight may give the green light for the Verdugo Street Beautification Project.

Councilman John Taylor says Verdugo Street is the street in front of the train station. The plans include widening the sidewalks and install landscaping, brick pavers, lighting and street furniture for a more pedestrian friendly gateway to the downtown area.

He says the Rotary Club of San Juan Capistrano is willing to donate a 16 foot four-faced clock for the plaza area of the project.

Taylor says in other business, the Council may approve the development of the 75 unit affordable rental housing project for seniors on City-owned property at the northwest corner of Camino Capistrano and Junipero Serra Road. The development is called The Groves.

Tonight’s City Council meeting begins at five.
