Mission Viejo may buy a golf course

The Mission Viejo City Council tomorrow will discuss whether to purchase the 18-hole Casta Del Sol Golf Course.

Mayor Greg Raths says there are several buyers for the property who want to develop it. And the city would like to prevent that from happening to insure the property remains a golf course and a place for residents to enjoy.

He says the cost would be between 13 to 15 million dollars.

Raths says if the city purchases the property, it would like to turn property on the other side of Casta Del Sol Road, behind the Aquatics Center, into a wilderness area to extend a trail that goes through the city.

Tomorrow’s City Council meeting begins at six in the evening.
