National Preparedness Month

September is National Preparedness Month, an opportunity to be reminded that it’s important to be ready for the unexpected like earthquakes, fires and floods.

American Red Cross Regional Preparedness Manager Amy Estey says besides having an emergency kit with food, water and supplies, it’s also important to have a separate safe place in the home for vital documents such as medical information.

She says the freezer is a great place to put documents because it can withstand the heat from fires. And many emergency units are trained to look in the freezer for documents.

Estey says it’s also important to have contact information of relatives for when the unplanned interruptions of life occurs.

She’s the guest on our public affairs show “Collage” which airs this evening at seven. “Collage” may also be heard anytime on-line on www.Jazz885.org
